What is Pro Ethical Trade and what does it do?

Pro Ethical Trade Finland is a civic organisation focused on fair, socially and ecologically responsible world trade. Private persons can join Pro Ethical Trade Finland and its activities.

We aim at increasing the consumers, companies and public procurers consciousness on the problems and their solutions. This means promoting socially responsible certification systems, such as Fairtrade, and ensuring that the conventions of International Labour Organisation (ILO) and universal Human Rights are respected.

Our current campaigns and projects are:

  • Fairmaker - in Fairmaker we organise training on Fair and responsible consuming, Fairmaker's are experts who take action and increase people's consciusness and interest in these issues.
  • Driver's License of a Global Consumer - a project for secondary schools and high schools about the connections between consumption and third world development issues.
  • Clean Clothes Campaign Finland - a part of the international Clean Clothes Campaign. The campaign aims at improving working conditions and supporting the empowerment of workers in the global garment and sportswear industries.
